Life with kids.
You expected it to be both stressful and fun. But now you spend
your day yelling, nagging, bribing and punishing.
Where did the fun part go?
Systematic Training
for Effective
Parenting (STEP)
can
help!
STEP is a nationally recognized
discipline method that shows parents how to raise cooperative, happy
children without throwing tantrums of their own.
Aviva Schwab, M.Ed., STEP Educator
 |
Aviva Schwab is a mom, a grandmother and a
teacher. For the past 26 years, Aviva has offered Systematic
Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) classes to parents,
educators, social workers and pediatricians. To answer the
needs of busy parents, Aviva developed a recording of her live
(and lively) workshop on CD.
The STEP skills worked so effectively with
Aviva's two children (now grown), that
she and her husband used to "fight" over who got to
pick them up from school! |

Aviva's classes have been featured on several news programs. Here are
three:

Hi Aviva,
We are so pleased that you have shared your
materials with us! They are clearly a labor of love and
will certainly help parents in their learning journey.
It's a good thing
that our car is a hybrid because Deb, my wife, keeps making
excuses to go on errands so that she can listen to the CDs.
Again, thanks!

Are you tired of
yelling? |
 |
Is bribery putting
you in the poorhouse? |
 |
Do you have a nagging
headache? |
 |
Are you fed up with
punishment? |
You are not
alone. Fortunately, STEP teaches skills that replace yelling,
nagging, bribing and punishing.
Here is how
some parents feel after learning the STEP approach:
|

I have been a mom for 12 years and for 12 years I have been 'winging it'
— not so well I might add. Since listening to the CDs, our family has improved,
especially our youngest (five), who was formerly the head of household!
We are all happier. I feel confident now that my children will
learn to be responsible and respectful adults. And we are responsible,
respectful parents too!
These CDs are the manual that I wish I had gotten at the
hospital before we left there with our first born.
Susan E., mother of three children |
|
I am breaking the cycle of poor parenting that has
been passed down for generations in my family. It has been a
lot more fun to be a father since taking this class.
Dr. Ron N.
Thanks to STEP, I feel closer with my kids and
look forward to being real friends with them as they grow into
adults.

It was easier to manage my department of 200
people than to parent my two children. Thankfully, I found
the training that helps me enjoy my children while still being
in control. Carol S., mother of two and

STEP skills
resolve all the daily aggravations:
 | morning madness |
 | food frustrations |
 | sibling squabbles |
|
 | tantrum troubles |
 | respect refusals |
 | homework hassles |
|
 | chore challenges |
 | whining woes |
 | bedtime battles |
|
Through
STEP classes or CDs, these parents have learned how to enjoy their
kids:
 |
The contents of this workshop would never come
naturally to me but as I learn from Aviva, I feel that this should be the
'natural' way to handle things. A large STEP for an arrogant
male. Dr. Bob P., father of 4 children |
|
[Since listening to the recording,]
I've been very,
very calm and my kids are listening to me more. We
love the family conversation at dinnertime... My kids actually work out
their fights... They feel like they are a part of something when they do
chores.
Gina
W., mother of three children |
|
The 'food issue' is no longer an issue at our house. My daughter is
even trying new foods and dinner time has become a pleasant time.
Gloria Z., mother of 2 children |

The Goals of
STEP are:
 |
to raise a
child who is happy, healthy, confident and cooperative |
 |
to build a
strong, lifelong relationship with your child |
 |
to help your
child grow into a responsible adult |
 |
to raise a
loving and lovable child |

Dr. Rosen comments on STEP from both personal and
professional viewpoints.
 |
As a clinical psychologist and a family therapist, I
have studied and prescribed many parenting strategies. This
course is the most useful in terms of hands-on techniques and
helping to calm parents and children. I find myself
recommending it often and using it with my own children effectively.
STEP has given me the framework with which to make millions of
parenting decisions every day.

These CDs are a gold mine!
We make people take driving classes and train for
every profession in life except parenting. Raising happy,
healthy, loving people is the most important thing we do as
parents. STEP gives you the tools to accomplish this.
